You're correct about JD cab tractors having a cut-off valve for water heater. According to JD parts the 30-55 series cab tractors all utilize the same valve which leaked internally on my 4255 and I've witnessed leak internally on several other models. All models mentioned valves(key 6) are not cable operated.
