I retired at 54- 15 years ago, on about 30% of what I was making before from the company because of my ex. I put a big chunk of my retirement funds into stock which has done very well, and they tell me I have to start taking it next year. I took my SS about 7 years ago, and have a firemen's pension coming from the county. Plus, whatever I make on the farm or custom work.
Without any lunch or gas money, and work clothes (actually the same duds I farm in) and any other stuff I spent to go to work, I probably make out better on less. Plus I don't have to get up early, I can go to bed late, and if it's raining, I can find something to keep me busy indoors. I really dig this retired crap!!!
