This is a very interesting topic to me too. I'm 3 years from my earliest retirement, at which time my after tax take-home would be $2375/mo. I think I can get by on that, but might work an extra two years to get $2750/mo take-home. I've done a pretty detailed budget, and I think that will be reasonably comfortable. I hope I'm not totally out to lunch? The closer I get, the more nervous and scared I become.
It's only $35,000/yr before tax, but I think a lot of people live on less than that...
Of course this is Canada, where we seem to make less money than Americans, and pay almost twice as much for everything. Hearing the prices you guys pay for buildings really makes me green with envy...
