Oil pressure gauges go bad on those trucks. I have an 88 Dakota, a 90 250 and a 2004 2500 and have replaced gauges on all of them. Fuel gauge spotty on all of them. odometer on the 90 bad. Can't keep an EGR in the 2004 functional.
I have manuals. 90s been rebuilt but is noisy. I have had company automatics, 94 and a 2000. It wasn't the trannie as much as the torque converters that were the problem.
No matter what you get, they all have their quirks. The Chevy Duramax had electrical issues (great engine and the Eaton was great, fuel mileage poor). Depending on the year Ford, there are a myriad of issues.
