For pulling an RV trailer across Iowa, I think US Hwy 30 would be an easier route than either I-80 or US 34. I'm not familiar with the road in eastern Iowa, but the road runs parallel to a major Union Pacific rail line for the length of Iowa. Through central Iowa it's on a flat glacial plain until Carroll. West of Carroll there are 15 miles of medium hills, then US 30 follows the flat Boyer River Valley down to I-29 at Missouri Valley, Iowa (exit #75). Take I-29 south down the the flat Missouri River valley for 24 miles to I-80.
US 30 in Iowa is designated the "Lincoln Highway Heritage Byway" www.LHHeritageByway.org
