When I talk to a person who places an ad, I always end the conversation with "Of course, if somebody else gets the cash to you first, I know you will sell it." If I'm placing an ad, I always tell the prospective buyer that the first person who gets me the cash buys it. Although just two weeks ago I bought a car from a dealer who was about 3 hours away and after I called him that I was on the way, he said he would hold it for me and wouldn't sell it to anybody else until after I had looked at it. I wouldn't lose any sleep over your situation. After all, it's Craigslist.
