You open up an interesting discussion. Keep in mind that the majority of people are basically honest. BUT, there are plenty more that are not. Many of the goofs will want you to hold an item while they shop around to see if they can get a better deal. Then, the seller is left high and dry to start out all over again. I can see where folks can get fed up and frustrated with this. I have sold a few things over CL, and my policy is that the first serious buyer is the one I will sell to. I would not expect a seller to hold something for me under normal circumstances. There are times when I would like to have something held for me, but I also see the seller's position. Distance plays a big part. If an item is far away, and I want it, I will try to make a deal with the seller over the phone or email if possible. The biggest problem is that there are too many scammers out there that are trolling CL ads for a way to scam somebody.
