When you're in the airplane getting ready for a nice relaxing flight, please don't take your shoes off until safely airborne and the seat belt sign is off. The reason is that the most likely time you will need to evacuate quickly is from the time the engines are started until sometime after lift off. If you have bare feet the evacuation will be painful to say the least when you need to run through rubble or glass or jet fuel. And you will slow the others 'cause you'll be saying 'ouch' with each step you take
