I could probably tell about that site . Right now I am in the lunch room at B15 for the low and intermediate level disposal site . The used fuel storage is next door and I have the clearance to walk in there anytime.
The anti's are either people who have not been show the burial plan. Or hard core anti's looking for attention, drama or some great moral cause to justify and add value to themselves .
The anti's site show drawings of rusted out barrels with the radiation symbol in a 1950's era municipal above ground garbage dump.
I was at a meeting and the anti's were either sure that lake water was going to flow down through 2230ft of rock and back up again. Didn't matter to them either that the burial layer is 100ft of rock is absolutly solid and impervious .
The other response by the anti's if the facts were too obvious they would say " we need more research, I don't like it , I am not comfortable with it" blah blah.
As for the used fuel being waste, far from it . The next generation of molton salt reactors operate rather well on the "used fuel".
