Reminds me of a story from home. The Grave boys, as they were called, were 2 bachelors that farmed east of town and had grown up in the depression. They were traditionally MM folk, but were now forced to go to WHITE and a new dealership to order their new tractor. Pa had a raport with the dealer because we ran some Oliver equipment and he was asked by the dealer about the Grave boys' financial status. These 2 were not the most progressive and never appeared to have much financial status. Pa reassured Mr. Frieler that they were good for their bill and had a good reputation financially. The story closes with the tractor being delivered COD and the driver upon offload being given a handful of cash by 1 of the brothers. They didn't believe in banks either.
