This man is real. I caught up with him back in June of 2014 when he passed through the Quad Cities.
He drove that same tractor from the east coast all the way to California in the summer of 2014 and went right through this area on Interstate 80.
I took 603 pictures of him and his tractor and trailer as he passed through the Moline, Illinois area.
He spent several days here. I tracked him down as he was entering Geneseo, just east of Moline and followed him in to the Quad Cities.
There was some severe weather coming into the area the evening he came into the east edge of the Quad Cities and a couple of us took it upon ourselves to find him some shelter for his rig.
We got permission for him to stay inside the fire station in Silvis that night.
I have pictures of him arriving at the fire station, and meeting several of the town's officials.
I think he stayed here for 3 days, I took pictures of him as he visited the world headquarters of the John Deere Company.
You can see all the pictures I took of him, and all the activities as he visited Hero Street in Silvis, Illinois. Hero Street in Silvis is a story all of it's own and can be found if you do a search on Google.
All of the pictures I took of him are on the internet at:

As with many things there are often several right answers and a few wrong ones. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
