I see there are verious different specs under this same model #. One says medium duty, for 30-60hp. Another says heavy duty and for 50-80 hp.
What hp tractor does your friend use? Agri-Supply (for example) has 75 hp gearboxes for up to $180 each. If it were me, I'd get a gearbox rated for 30 or so hp more than I'm using and replace both gearboxes with aftermarket.
Now for another question - is his cutter still under any kind of warranty?
