I believe the lower number is hotter...ie 5. I run BPR5ES in all my small engines...I have a lot of hondas. It seems kind of crazy since we can go 100-150,000 km without changing the plgs in the new viehicles, but I have no issue switching a new plug once or twice a year. While the engines may be ok, a new plug smooths the starts and gives good power. Don't worry, I change the filters and oil often too. Lots of crude mnages to get in the carb bowls to fowl things up too...I blame dirty gas cans.
