I live in Ontario and have had good and bad issues bringing in equipment from the US. Biggest problem is generally Canada Border Revenue Service. Even with perfect paperwork they tend to drag every regulation out of the woodwork. Anything brought into Ontario with an engine has to meet the criteria of both provincial and federal regulations. A friend of mine from Aberdeen tried to bring a BMW bike into Canada from Michigan to use for a holiday, but because he wasn't a Canadian and didn't reside here, he was turned back. If it was a rental he would have been fine apparently, but because he bought it, it was a no go. We don't have the same open border policy as the EU so border imports are better controlled.
