I'm not convinced there is much difference in brands.
The more expensive ones just have more bells and whistles (and more to go wrong), no better quality.
I personally prefer freezer on bottom, just because cold air sinks.
I bought one in November, bought it at Sears Outlet store. Had some dents in the side that went against the wall, out of sight. Same warranty, about 25-50% off the show room price. I hauled it myself, saved $100. It does pay to dicker with them, just some casual conversation, and he kept coming up with more discounts. May have been just a sales pitch, but think I did OK.
Hint, they work on commission, they want to make a sale even if the company doesn't make any money!
