The stretch through the UP of MI is beautiful/scenic and it's been re-done and with lots of passing lanes and very smooth. Just enough small-medium towns to supply motels/eats/fuel etc. Some wide open , uncrowded sand beaches and if wind is right, some huge waves that will carry you quite a ways into shore if you're a mind to do that.
