I have several wrecks a year and in my experience most insurance companies will offer you 40% of what the car is really worth. They will pull out some Kelly Blue Book or similar and pull up a price which is impossible to replace the vehicle for that price. I'm involved in one right now on a 1999 Ford Contour which 21st Century Insurance is placing the value of the car about $750.00 which the only car I can find for that price is one that was involved in a roll over collision. Ours is in great shape except for the rear bumper and fully drivable.
