The second week on mine,it had my back muscles so messed up I could barely walk. I'd lean against the wall in the morning to get to it,do about 15 seconds to get limbered up and I could do chores alright. By the time I got back in I was all hunched over again,but I'd get on it for ten minutes and be alright again for a while. It went on for about a week,but I haven't had a seconds trouble with my back since,and it's been just shy of a year now. You'd be amazed how many muscles those things work. I've found that it works different muscles in my shoulders depending on how I hold on to the handles. I do half my time with my hands on top of them,the rest with them on the sides.
