Not exactly sure what you are trying to do. If you want to use a belt to start your tractor, my 1960 10 hp cub cadet used a 12v belt drive starter, which after starting the starter became a generator. It used the old voltage regulator which consisted of relays. Only problem, the starter/generator was over $100 and I had to replace it every few years. Cub was used to mow 2 acres with, so it was used a lot each year.
If you plan to use a belt to start engine, you may need to check the pulley size in engine. If I remember the pulley on cub cadet engine was larger than anything I've seen on a crankshaft on a tractor. Starter belt had to be good and tight or it would slip. geo
