Our snow mostly melted in the freezing rain we got. Lots of ice around. Now our second cold snap of the year, got up to 5 degrees today, was below last night and now again tonight.
I scooped a few buckets of snow from some small snow drifts and dumped it on the well pit and valve pits to insulate them hopefully. The cold soaks into the ground bad when it is mostly bare like this, and we have a lot of winter to go. Up here it doesn't always warm up much between cold snaps, hope the cold doesn't drive down too deep in the ground. Water pipes are about 5-7 feet deep here.
