Due to the 24/7 nature of a power plant, we do not use actual locks, but rather a tagging system- plastic (or metal) tags with component number, name and position printed on them zip-tied into the lock-out of the circuit or valves. All controlled electronically with a multi-layer computer program to assign work/workers to the clearance. Works really well, but does not replace personal voltage checks before work and after every break.
