A couple days ago someone on this site had a picture of his screen that warned about a virus and that audibly told you to call a certain number. I was looking at things on facebook when poof! the screen like his warning popped up. NOTHING would cancel it off, and no I didn't call the number. Shut off the computer the wrong way, still it wouldn't go away. Not only shut off the computer, but "pulled the plug" i.e. shut off the power to it. When rebooted the screen and audible message was STILL there! My wife "messed with it" and somehow got rid of it, but boy, it's a PITA. It's like Russian roulette, never know from whence this stuff will show up.
