I don't understand this nonsense about number 1 and 2 fuel. I have run all over the country from Florida to Washington state in the wintertime ,and never had a problem with fuel freezing, if I bought fuel in the climate I'm in. Another words if I bought fuel in FL and shut it down in ND yes it might be a problem. As long as I bought fuel in WI or SD on the way I was always fine. I have even shut it off for the night in Montpelier ID at -28 in the morning and had it start with no problems. I don't advocate those things but have done it. I don't think the hose heaters have a thermostat in them or at least ours don't appear to.
