Is it possibly the noise is partly from the hydraulic system? I'm not sure if that tractor used the same type of pump in front of the engine as JD did on a 3010 - 4020 and on up. Those systems had good capacity, pressure and longevity but they do create there fair share of noise. The de-stroke system can come out of adjustment and cause the noise to increase. If you steer the wheel or activate the raise cycle of the 3 point does the noise from the tractor decrease? You most likely will need someone familiar with these tractors to tell you if there is a problem with the hydraulic system.
