I've never owned one but the in-laws have owned a 5th wheel trailer and now MIL has a motor home (FIL passed away a year ago). Both were money pits for them, both have had appliance, heater and electrical problems galore. They were hard on tires and also brakes on the towing truck in the case of the 5th wheel. She now has to sell the motor home as the FIL didn't have enough life insurance to pay the funeral costs and the motor home off. Without his pension it's been a struggle, unfortunately she owes a lot on it, probably more than it's worth. I don't think I would ever buy one based on their experiences with them.
