Like Steve below, I'll happily deal with the critters before I deal with months of snow and ice. Down here in north Louisiana we have 'em all: alligators, bears, pumas, coyotes, rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, copperheads, black widows, scorpions, etc. I've never run across a gator, bear or puma, or even a rattlesnake, and I'm in the woods a lot. I've never been stung by a scorpion--haven't seen one in years. Copperheads are plentiful; I exercise reasonable care, but I don't really give them much thought. Most of my dogs have been bitten by copperheads, but give them a Benedryl and next day they're fine. The pests I dislike most are fire ants and yellow jackets, but I like them better than snow and ice. That said, I'm perfectly happy with you northerners staying up there shoveling your snow. (Grin).
