We have one of those 5 gallon, automatic waters (red and white) for about 30-40 birds. When it starts to cool down, we have one of those red heat bulbs, and we just hang it about 4 feet above the water. Not only does it keep the water from freezing, but it warms the whole house just enough to keep them comfortable. It is 6 x 12 cedar sided little building. Last night it was 12 degrees, and when I was down there this morning it was probably 35-40 in their house. Once it get snows on top it will be a lot better.
