I too use a mower lift which I purchased at Home Depot. It has adjustable width receptacles for the front tires and uses an auger type screw with a handle on top to screw the mower into the raised positon. Upon reaching the up position a locking pin automatically snaps into the vertical support shaft to lock the machine in place. The pin has to be pulled out before you can lower the unit with the hand crank. Wheels for rolling around, folds up for easy storage and priced right.
I also have an engine jack, like you use when pulling an engine from a car/truck, and the Front End Loader on a tractor. The above mentioned jack is the easiest to use and is completely out of your way.
