Bought a ZT 60" with a Kohler in 2013, have 85 hours on it. I mow about 3 1/2 acres. Very good residential mower.
Older models did have transaxle pump cover leakage problems. A new seal and sometimes a new cover fixed that.
Newer models have went to one fuel tank and some plastic stuff that gets in the way of servicing the machine. Newer models have a rubber dust cover over the front wheel casters that get knocked off pretty easily. I put a long zip tie around mine.
None of the Bad Boys have grease fittings on the deck spindles. That is a draw back to their mower line. I took my spindles apart and installed grease fittings. It took about 45 minutes per spindle but well worth the time to save bearings.
The only trouble I have had was a broken mount bolt on the right transaxle. I do not know what I did to break it. I replaced it and checked all the other bolts. Have not had a problem since.
You did not say which model Bad Boy you are looking at. I would not buy a MZ model if you yard is very rough. They have a short wheel base and small tires.
