Agree with others so far. Well worth it. View at top is into a valley with the Green Bank Radio Astronomy center in it, another worth it stop while you are in the area. Sort of an opposite of the Cass railroad. The last time I was there you could still go into the shop and look at the work being done to the engines and the machine tools they have, see if you can still do it. With it being fall and leave viewing time you might want make sure you get there EARLY to be sure and get a ticket, I have heard they sell out in the fall. While waiting gives you a chance to look around the shop and maybe the store and museum at the station. And be sure and check out the neat mechanicals on the engine side of the Shay engines. I think they also have at least one each of a Heisler and Climax engine also, don't remember if they are running or maybe they are by now.
