This is a perfect chance to also teach your 4H ers a bit about marketing. At auction it could bring as low as $400 - $ 500 or as high as $800. Problem is you give up ALL power over the mater to the weather, advertising/auction abilities of auction house, number and type of buyers there at the time etc . If you want the best price you must keep control of such things. You have to play to the right "band" that sees more value in it than just a "small squares hay wagon" for occasional farm use. Even a raffle where you can sell tickets all year at 4H related events and fairs and the like in the name of promoting 4H clubs in general. A little "legal" work to do but easily worth it. 500 tickets at $ 2 ea....no brainer and even better is the exposure to 4H clubs activities for future endevours.
