I'm on my feet nearly all day, every day. I used to wear the Wolverine Durashock boots, but it got to where they weren't lasting even a year before the sole split.
I was told that a handful of companies now own all of the brands, so they now design strictly for comfort, and to heck with the life expectancy. In other words, if you dump one brand, more than likely you'll buy another brand they own also. So, they lose nothing, but you continue to buy their products, regardless of the name, in the search to find a good quality boot.
Several years agO I started wearing the Redwing 9" loggers. They are comfortable, and so far have lasted something like two years. Other than some wear on the sole, (and they can be resoled)they are as good as new. I'm actually planning to buy a new pair soon, and get the old ones repaired.
