It used to be quite common around here to put a sack over part or all of the radiator. I quit doing it after a little accident we were blowing silage up with a d 17 and when we stopped to put gas in and driving away from the gas barrel a fan blade came out and this tractor was just running at full throttle. Thinking about this I realized what blocking part of the radiator did where the air went in the pressure pushed the blade in where the radiator was blocked there was no pressure the blade came out the blade was moving in and out making the blade weak and breaking it.
