That would have been a wasted phone call on my old man. About the time the script read "they found drugs in the car" he would have told his own son (or grandson) that spending some time in jail might build the character that is obviously lacking in his make up - then called him a dumb SOB and hung up.
They'd have to think of a better way to scam money out of him.
