Hmm. If there is any GM pickup style that is "classic", it would have to be the 1973-1987 body style. Not only was it in production for fourteen years, it was used for Suburbans built through 1991, a whopping eighteen year production run.
Having owned 1980, 1988, and 2004 model year Chevy half-tons, I can say unequivocally that each new style was a significant improvement on its predecessor. The newer pickups are more reliable, comfortable and practical. And although I don't have enough experience with the current style to comment on its reliability, it's definitely the most comfortable and practical GM pickup to date.
