I have a 2000 extended cab 4X4, 5.3 engine, with 212,000 miles, still going strong. I bought it used, so I have no idea if the engine or trans have ever been worked on. But it all works like it should with no oil consumption.
I like the electronic push button shift on the 4wd. Also there's a "Tow/Haul" button on the end of the shifter that reprograms the trans for towing and hauling. It gives higher shift points, plus holds the trans out of OD most of the time.
The few times I've checked gas mileage, it was in the mid teens, but I don't use it for a daily driver, so I'm not too concerned with mpg.
