I took M w J advice, only used 2 wraps of blue Teflon. It's thicker and stronger than white Teflon. The O ring that comes in contact with cylinder wasn't a snug fit on the end piece. The Teflon snugged things up, hoping enough.
Many times on YT you get conflicting advice, and you have to decide what to do. Someone recommend using Devcon liquid steel epoxy. Hyd shop and others advices against it. Trying to sand it I was beginning to regret the decision. Once I got it sanded, the only epoxy left fill in the damaged area that is between the wire retainer and the outer O ring. I'm convinced that area was damaged when I took the cylinder to they hyd shop because I wasn't able to get the retaining wire out. If you look at cylinder you will see a grove where the retaining wire goes. Also a grove on the end piece. No clips, just wire retainer.
The epoxy filled in and smoothed out the area that damaged the O-rings on piston.
I use old shop rag, zip ties, electrical tape and installed 2 old wiper o rings on rod in an attempt to keep dirt away from the end of the cylinder that is prone to leaking. also keeps the dirt out of where the wire retainer goes. It my redneck leak detector too. Wet rag means I have a leak.
All back together, no leaks. But I'm convinced if your hydraulics isn't leaking today, just wait there's always tomorrow.
