The inline injection pump used on your backhoe has it's own oil sump and does not get lube from the engine. The oil in the pump is changed separately from the engine oil.
From your response I'd say it's never been changed or checked and most likely has got low enough to damage the pump.
You really need to get a operators manual and read the maintenance section.
