Yep it needs to be cut early and often sometimes you can get 4 cuttings out of a stand,seems like dairy farmers used to use it in crop rotation to get rid of weeds because it had to be cut often weeds never had a chance to mature to the seed stage.But don't let cattle graze it after its been hit with frost until it totally dries because it'll kill them.
