Yes it will mash down mole runs. Moles will only laugh at you. The next day they will be back again. Trust me. I made a roller that is close to 1000# per ft. 5 foot roller and 5000#. I can add 250 gallons to my roller, but that is counter productive. Any more weight will cause the rear wheels on tractor to pull harder and that will damage the sod.
I mash mole runs and then set traps when moles return. Never really win the battle with moles if you have a large lawn that is too big to treat with chemicals. And then you have neighbors moles come to visit.
I would never use on a hill or close to water, too dangerous.
