I think that a good place to start would be with a nice big "NO TRESPASSING" sign, a "NO THOROUGHFARE" sign, and a gate across the end of the driveway. The traps and other means of damaging the offender's vehicle could result in more problems than you want. After all, do you want to hurt the offender or just make him stop? I might also suggest watching for the offender and stopping him while on your property and simply telling him that your driveway is not to be used as his shortcut. Most folks will stop offending once they have been told to stop. Of course, then there is the law enforcement end of things. A nice ticket for trespassing will do wonders towards stopping bad behavior.
