I have a Power King 2418 and it gets regular use around my 5 acre spread. It's a great little tractor because it is small enough to get into anywhere but has enough traction to do a respectable amount of work. That said, I would not want to rely on this tractor, or any Power King for that matter, to do as much mowing as we both have. The PK mower deck only goes on a few times per year (mostly just for the fun of it) while a modern sub-compact diesel does the real mowing work. It would take me twice as long to mow with the 2418 and I already spend enough time at that task.
As for the dual transmissions, I find I hardly ever use mine and leave the front tranny in high gear 99% of the time. The main purpose of this option was to get creeper gears for running a tiller or snowblower, neither of which I have. It is handy for slowly backing into tight spots and the 2-2 gear splits the regular 1st and 2nd which is sometimes helpful. Other than that I find it more of a novelty than something really useful.
