It's been a looong time since I sold my #5, close to 40 years ago when I bought my 1st disc mower. I mowed a lot of hay with the #5 and an old 830 Case. I can't remember what section I used but I found a double guard that I used instead of the JD guard. If memory is correct they came off of a NH mower conditioner. It made a huge difference in how much better it cut.
