In neutral the PTO will spin just because of the transmission oil. The slowly coming out of engagement could be a worn PTO shift collar/coupling or maybe the shift lever not detenting in when engaged. I am almost positive there is a detent ball and spring on the PTO shift lever on the MF 50. You should be able to feel it detent when you move the PTO selector lever.
