NO I haven't. I just cant see nor can I get my air blow gun in all the places and nooks and crannies that I can if the cover is removed. Sure, you can still do "some" cleaning with the cover on but not as well as if removed WELL DUH. With it removed I can oil the fan motor shaft on units so equipped also. On the inside its fairly easy to drop the cover down to service those foam strip return air filters. I usually only have to work up top maybe twice a year so I suck it up, crawl up there, and the wife dials 9 1 on the phone and stands there.
