You asked about information on the Gilmore. The best source is their web sight "Gilmorecarmuseum.com" Also "Trip Advisor" will give you comments from people who have been there. My personal opinion is that it is one of the best kept secrets anywhere. You mention that you southern boys have never heard of it and I am here to tell you that their are people twenty miles from it that have never heard of it. Mr. Don Gilmore started this in the mid sixties and they do very little advertizing. The contraption that you mentioned in the pictures that I posted happens to be the first automobile ever produced. It was made by a German gentleman by the name of Benz. If I remember I think it was about 1884, long before Henry Ford knew there would someday be an automobile. Every year they allow the Kalamazoo Tractor Club to have their tractor show on these grounds. I have always felt that it was an honor and very much a privilege to be able to participate in this show. The State of Michigan has produced many who have been very successful and fortunately many have given back to society so others can enjoy. This is just another example. This part of the State is a beautiful place to plan a vacation and to visit especially up along the shore of Lake Michigan in the summer months and their are some great places to stay while visiting this area.
