I have a 16 year old hydraulic cylinder on an outrigger that the factory weld has leaked in 3 different places. I'm always rebuild it too. This time I noticed nicks in the chrome rod. How they get there is still a mystery to me. Getting tired of repairing this cylinder.
I buffed out the nicks with my homemade belt sander and drill. 120g belt works better than I would have expected on the chrome. Polish it off with emery cloth.
Instead of getting out my welding cart. I found another use for the jawhorse. I was given the horse about 5 years ago and never put it to use. Who would have thunk it can hold things while you are welding. geo.
