I never had rats until I started bringing in blended feeds for the cattle off of pasture. My feed was half corn half barley ground together with a molasses sweetener..all of a sudden I had rats, I tried traps and bait without a lot of success, finally an older neighbour told me to come and get some of his cats,I got three year old cats and the next morning there was a chewed up rat in the aisle. I always fed the cats every day with some canned cat food, just enough to make them stay and still be hungry for rodents. Within a few weeks I saw no sign of rats. The cats had access to all parts of the barn including the grainary where I augered my feed off the hopper wagons. I found cats were the best solution
