Research the person . Here in Arkansas you can look up public record court cases for free . Traffic tickets , divorce , bankruptcy , civil cases , criminal cases , etc .
Be careful though . I looked up my name and found a dozen traffic tickets dating back to 1993 , but also found a few people with the same first and last name that had serious trouble . Different ages and locations but still close .
Just verifying a name , address , and usually length of time at that address helps .
Cash is good but you could still get scammed with counterfeit money . gather what info you can , follow your gut , take lots of pics as they load the tractor / equipment so you can I'd faces and vehicles if there is a problem .
Have a buddy come over for a witness and back up if need be , you never know . I move my game camera to area I am loading stuff .
