I had a minor cut on my thumb get infected after handling silage inoculant. When we filled silo we had a small hopper with a little star wheel that fed a dry powder in with the silage. It had some stuff in it to help the silage ferment better. The powder was purchased in 50lb bags. I got some in a small cut while refilling the hopper. Didn't think anything about it. A day later major infection. Had red strips running up my arm from my thumb. Got to the doctor quick. Antibiotics took care of it. I assume the stuff in the silage inoculant that helped the silage ferment also help bacteria grow in my cut.
